Hey y'all!! As some of you may know, I'm a Christian and spending time in God's Word is super important to me and my faith! I am currently in the process of reading the ENTIRE Bible, and wow, it has been so amazing... but also so difficult at the same time. As I finish reading each book of the Bible, I will be posting a short recap and sharing my thoughts! Everything I'm including is from my own knowledge and understanding, along with a bit of research I've done, as I'm not a professional! Anyway, I'm super excited for this journey and I hope y'all are too!

The History Behind Genesis:

Genesis is the very first book in the Bible and is best known for outlining how God created the heavens and Earth in six days. Although Genesis does describe of the six days of creation, the majority of the book is about Abraham's family and God's promise to Abraham that " I will make of you a great nation" (Genesis 12:2). Genesis also incorporates many of the stories we hear about as children, like the Garden of Eden, Noah and the Flood, and the Tower of Babel.

How Does this Relate to my Life?

In Genesis, many of the biblical stories use characters as a mirror so we can see ourselves and discover our own human nature in the reflection. This essentially means that us as humans make, or will make, many of the same mistakes that the people from the Bible did. With that being said, the book of Genesis was very relatable because I was able to see how God uses my sin and failure to draw me closer to Him and all of His goodness.

What was One thing God showed me in Genesis?

The most prominent thing God showed me in Genesis is how He can turn disorder into beauty, which he first demonstrated with Adam and Eve.

My Favorite Chapter, Verse, or Parable from Genesis:

In Genesis 17, God tells Abraham that He will bless his wife Sarah with a child, even though she is 90 years old and Abraham 100. When told this, Abraham actually fell facedown and laughed!!! When Sarah hears God confirm this in Genesis 18, Sarah laughed too! God hears Sarah laughing he asks Abraham, " Is anything impossible for the Lord?" (Genesis 18:14). I loved this story from Genesis because it shows us how easy it is to doubt God, especially when He provides us with something we once thought was unattainable.

I hope you enjoyed hearing my thoughts and interpretations from the book of Genesis! Stay tuned for more posts like this one!
